The Martínez family is made up of three members, both parents receive income and the family income is approximately 5,000 Cuban pesos. They get food at agricultural fairs or from the production on their small farm, sometimes they receive cleaning and food combos sent from abroad by an old friend. They like shellfish, pork and ropa vieja, the former only consumed when they go out to eat once or twice a year. The mother is the one who cooks and before eating they bless and give thanks for the food.
